Prof. Werner Brack PhD. in Environmental
Chemistry. Leader of the Department for effect directed analysis at the UFZ.
Teaching at the Universities of Leipzig and Ouro Preto (Brazil). Member of the
editorial board of Chemosphere. He is coordinator of the EU Integrated Project
MODELKEY focusing on the assessment of the impact of environmental key
pollutants on freshwater and marine ecosystems and related national projects.
His main research topic is the effect-directed identification of chemical key
toxicants in complex environmental mixtures such as sediments, ground- and
surface water and biota with focus on integrated risk assessment. As a member
of the core group of the European Sediment Research Network (SedNet) and the
SETAC Sediment Advisory Board he is involved in thedevelopment and
standardisation of methods of sediment quality assessment on a European scale.
